A Sprinkling of Fall Magic

Inspiration for Autumnal Entertaining

The splendor of autumn is Mother Nature’s invitation for us all to add a little extra magic to our everyday. Fall is when she throws down the gauntlet, making it practically impossible not to be fueled by her audacious charms, from the rich kaleidoscope of colors to the farmer’s market bounty and invigorating weather that entices us to savor the season at every opportunity. Our version of diving head first into a pile of leaves with childlike abandon, here are a few of our favorite ways to celebrate the moment by bestowing a little extra resplendence to all of our delicious autumn gatherings.

Bring the outdoors, in and experience fall.

Bring the outdoors, in! From acorns to feathers, we venture out on leafy hikes and a forest walk and gather found treasures to display in vessels and bowls on coffee tables and countertops, while autumnal flower arrangements match the pumpkin spice mood and reflect the heightened romance of the season. We placed ruddy hydrangea (plucked from the garden) with orange dahlias and cut ferns into our Country Estate tureen that evokes a harvest sensibility with its charming depiction of pastoral life.

From pumpkin-strewn pathways to garland-clad doorways, fall is unofficially front porch decorating season.

From pumpkin-strewn pathways to garland-clad doorways, fall is (unofficially) front porch decorating season. Our favorite way to make a welcoming entrance — for hungry guests and trick-or-treaters alike — is by creating beautiful large-scale bouquets for the entry hall. Equally wild and cultivated, we use height and width to grand effect with fruited branches from the orchard, long berry brambles and blossoms in jewel-toned hues. Floristry tip: use floral water tubes to keep large flowers alive that don’t reach the waterline of your vase; they stay hidden amongst the leaves!

Enjoy the fall with friends outdoors.

Just as much as we love to bring the outdoors in, fall is a fabulous excuse to take the indoors, out! Dining alfresco is the best way to savor the season. Whether it’s beneath the boughs of your favorite tree, on the waterfront or even in the barn, open air meals that last for hours are the stuff of memories that last a lifetime. Don’t be afraid to heave your dining table and chairs outside, along with your sparkling glassware and favorite linens to set a truly magical scene that basks in the profound beauty of Mother Nature.

Nature-inspired accessories are the perfect adornment for autumn adventures — entertaining and otherwise!

Layer up! Nature-inspired accessories are the perfect adornment for autumn adventures — entertaining and otherwise! Stack bracelets and rings in subtly stunning, hand-carved teakwood jewelry with golden accents to stay grounded and channel your inner Earth Goddess, every day. Sweater weather translates beautifully to the table with extra layers of natural textures and motifs that echo the abundance and richness of fall. Just like jewelry, woven placemats, napkin rings and linens in harvest hues, make a fabulous finishing touch.

Enjoy the fall with candlelight.

And always, candlelight. Is there anything more fitting to reflect the season’s radiance? It’s time to glow with a fire in the hearth, scores of tea lights in cozy nooks, gorgeous taper candles illuminating tablescapes and hurricane candles placed on pathways to welcome all and sundry, home.
